Individual Mindfulness Training
Mindfulness, sati, is the keen and sustained awareness of what is happening inside and outside of me. It includes my body, sensations, emotions, thoughts and how I am behaving. It also includes my environment and interactions with other people.
Most of us start off with the idea that mindfulness is about finding a relaxed state we can take a rest in, a place where we can take timeout from our stressful life. While there is an element of truth about this it is not entirely true.
Mindfulness has two aspects to it. The first is that through sustained concentration our mind begins to calm. The second is that having a calm mind enables us to see more clearly what is happening within and around us. When we bring these two together it helps us develop an acceptance that ends the conflict within ourselves and enables making wiser and kinder choices. Reactivity becomes more frequently response. Fearful contraction exchanged for generosity, openness and expansion.
A key element of this particular mindfulness training is working with our emotions. How can I be present with experiences that hurt me and fully appreciate the joys?
The Course
Based on our eight week course this one-to-one course consists of eight sessions accessed online or by the telephone.
It includes:
-
A free initial conversation to make sure it is the right course at the right time for you. There is no commitment at this point.
-
A 50 minute meeting once a week for eight weeks. During this you will be taught how to practice mindfulness and integrate it into your life.
-
Guided meditation downloads on mindfulness of our body sensations, breathing and emotions.
-
A work book to support and chart the growth of your mindfulness practice.
-
Additional email access if experiencing difficulty between sessions for the duration of the course.
-
Follow ups – completion of the course gives access to further mindfulness training.
Who is the course for?
Learning to practice mindfulness alone can be more challenging and if your day is already full of demanding activities establishing a time each day to practice mindfulness meditation can be difficult. For this reason I offer an informal conversation before you commit to this course just to make sure it will really fit your requirements. There is no fee for this.
How much does it cost?
The fee is £450 (See small print below).
If in exceptional circumstances you find that you need more support than is envisaged here and that you would like further individual meetings, then this may be arranged separately.
Small Print
Once you have decided that you would like to do a course the full fee becomes due one week prior to the course beginning and will only be repaid in circumstances where the course cannot run or has to unexpectedly finish before completion.
